Parent Council
Welcome to Newlands Parent Council web page. We represent YOU, the parents/guardians of Newlands children, so just get in touch any time and together we can make a great school even better! See the bottom of this page for minutes and agenda of next meeting.
About parent councils
In September 2007, Parent Councils were introduced to replace School Boards and PTA’s, with the aim of encouraging and making it easier for parents to get involved in their children’s education and the life of the school.
All parents are members of the school’s Parent Forum, and the Parent Council, which works together with everyone involved in school life – parents, learners, teachers, school staff and the wider community – to support the school. Elections are held once a year at the AGM. The Parent Council meets around six times a year, with additional meetings when there are special events, e.g. preparing for a fundraiser. Items on the agenda vary from Head Teacher feedback on learning within the school, to school improvement plans and developing the school environment. If you would like to become involved or have any issues that you feel should be raised at our next meeting, please refer to the contact details below.

- Represent the views of parents.
- Promote contact between the school, parents, pupils, providers of nursery education and the community.
- Be involved in the appointment of senior promoted staff.
- Raise funds for the school for the benefit of pupils
