Newlands School was first built in 1876 and today boasts a modern extension integrated within the original building. We have a roll of around 63 pupils split over 3 composite classes. The school is set in the beautiful Scottish Borders in Romanno Bridge and covers the catchment area of Blyth Bridge, Kirkurd, Lamancha and Eddleston. School bus services are available to take our pupils from their respective villages to school. The school has a playground at the front of the school and playing fields at the back of the school including a pitch for games and a school garden, complete with poly tunnels!.
Our school meals are prepared in our modern kitchen which uses fresh ingredients from the school garden when possible. Pupils are encouraged to develop a healthy lifestyle including eating healthily.
The school's ethos; Newlands CARES is reflected through a positive behaviour policy, meeting pupil's individual needs and active learning and teaching strategies that engage all children. There is a strong emphasis on outdoor learning with a working school garden, an outdoor classroom and good partnerships with the local community including nearby organic farms.
