Welcome to the P6/7 class page. We are 17 pupils. Our teachers are Mr. Kaljee, Mrs Hilton (Wednesdays), Mrs Buxton, (PE Tuesdays) and Mr Davidson (PE on Friday). Mrs Bruce, Mrs Mitchell and Mrs Currie are helping out in class at different times during the week.
We have been very busy with developing our communication skills in the outdoor ass well as our problem solving skills. We have been writing fantastic stories with lots of details based on our outdoor environments.

This week we rediscovered electricity as a force and learned about how it worked. We learned about serial and parallel circuits. In the playground we demonstrated our knowledge of number patterns. From Fabonacci to triangular numbers and our own patterns too.
P6/7 have been challenged in a range of skills over the last week. From performing on percussion instruments in music, to bike maintenance, reciting poetry at Burns Assembly , looking for natural patterns in the outdoors and starting our Science topic with friction based experiments.
In the first two weeks of the year we completed our Europe topic with a geography game )and a splendid breakfast. (Pictures on Pupils page) We are also using the Kodu app to develop our coding games. Mrs Hilton is finishing off our time topic last term.
P6s and P7s leading the shared skills afternoon (golden time). We had mrs Peaston visiting during our Zones of regulations lesson and we had fun plotting shapes and letters on our coordinate grid.
This week we have been working on negative numbers within place value and applied it in addition and subtraction. We also learned to create shapes using coordinates and had some fun with influencing each others emotions through the zones of regulation approach.
P6/7 are learning how to use a compass. They were giving each other instructions using the compass to move from one point to a previously identified end point. Orientating of the compass to be able to give and follow instructions was a key learning point. We also used the zones of regulation to help identify emotions .
We we were working on the zones of regulation, time and our outdoor learning.
We have had a visit from the fire service , learning about bonfire safety. we helped to get the poly-tunnels ready for winter. Created adverts for our persuasive writing and had a Halloween based afternoon in the woodlands building dens and playing games.
This week we played times table tennis, maths board games and outdoor fractions of a number. We worked on our self portraits and started with creating an advert for a product in our persuasive writing. Finally we started our learning journals.
Working on our self portrait using observations skills, drawing lines and using different media including collage materials. We were problem solving in maths, creating a survey to collect data to make graphs showing both fractions and percentages. We helped to introduce the Zones or regulation to the P1/2 class.
This weeks events: Iron Man Challenge, including counting the tally sheets. Outdoor maths with sticks and stones to make fractions and percentages. Money maths with Mrs Hilton and some art work on display. The interviews for house and vice captain and the winners are on the pupil's pages as well as the Food waste reduction assembly.

In our first week week at school we have worked with our buddies to design playground games, we worked on our class charter and shared maths strategies with each other.
We have started our curriculum work with Mrs Hilton in RME, fractions in maths, persuasive writing, outdoor learning and shared reading with our buddies in P1.
We visited the Scottish parliament. We went through security and got a visitors badge. We visited the debating chamber the garden lounge and the committee room. We learned about the history of the parliament, about devolved and reserved matters , the mace, the presiding officer and the gavel.
